DC100/BL100/200 Fishing light
Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my boaters light last?

This will depend primarily on user handling and operation. The unit could last for many years of service. Several reports of lights still in service at nearly 6 years. The bulb is user replaceable and rated for 10,000+ hours.

Where do I buy replacement bulbs?
The BL100 and BL200 bulbs can be purchased at most department stores. The DC100 bulb is fairly new to the market. You can purchase it from us for $20.

Do you offer colors?
The DC100, BL100 and BL200 come with a clear cover. Green and blue are available upon request. Xtra covers are $15ea.

Can I increase or decrease the bulb power on my system?
Yes. If it will fit within the cover, go for it. Keep in mind, the more powerful the bulb, the more draw on the battery. The specs we sell the light with will no longer apply.

How do your boaters lights operate on 12v DC or 120 volt AC?
With an optional 12 volt DC power inverter. This allows for operation on 12v DC (battery). Removing the inverter allows for 120v AC operation. This design makes them more versatile than 12 volt DC only systems. This versatility allows the user to take these lights from boat to land and use at any dock or seawall with a 120 volt outlet. No need to take a battery or charger for power.

Is the BL100/200 protected against faults?
Yes. The BL series come with a GFCI plug as standard equipment. They are also equiped with our stray current sensor (SCS). This SCS trips the GFCI in the event stray current is present in the water. The SCS is the same as used on our dock lights.

What is the"cord float" offered with the boaters lights?
Keep in mind the light is weighted and will descend until it's tied off or the float is used. So as the bobber is to the fish hook, the float is to the light. Simply place the float on the cord for a desired depth and release in the water. Allow the light to drift away from the boat. The light will stay afloat at the predetermined level. Now, sit back and watch the fish gather! It's that easy!

Can I use the boaters light in my dingy or john boat?
Yes! Our DC100 is perfect for small boats. Even works great in a canoe when used with a battery jumper pack. With a fully charged jumper pack you can expect 20+ hours of light.

What do I do when a bulb burns out?
With this patent pending design you simply remove the protective cover, replace the bulb and reinstall the cover. Only takes a few minutes.

What happens if my boaters light cover breaks?
We offer replacement covers on our purchase page.

How much area will my light cover?
This will vary with each application. Water clarity, lamp depth, obstructions and the system's power arrangement will all be a factor. Typically 15-50'.

How deep can my light go?
Test have shown these lights to function at depths of 300'. Each system comes standard with 25' of cable extendable to 300'.

What is remote fishing?
Remote fishing is using a battery jumper pack to take the light to an area a boat can't get to. Some are walking islands and placing the light around mangroves. Then stand back and wait for fish to come. Others use them off bridges or piers. The DC100 can last more than 20 hours on a jumper pack. Light your house when power goes out! Take it on a road trip for a service light or in case of an emergency.
